OBITUARY: CHARLES L. DAVES, 83 STOCKTON – Charles L. Daves, age 83 of Stockton, IL, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. He was born March 22, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Penticoff) Daves. Charles married Irene Basner on July 22, 1950 in Landshut, Germany. He had served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He worked at Kraft Foods for 36 years without missing a day. He also worked part time driving a fuel truck for the Farmer’s Exchange for 18 years. Charles was a member of the Stockton VFW. He enjoyed playing pool, gardening, and tinkering with cars. He loved singing karaoke and being around his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter, Tonya Bernhardt of Stockton; three sons, Charles Jr. (Marilyn) of Aurora, CO, Alfred (Sandy) of Warren, IL, and Rick of Stockton; six grandchildren, Joel Daves, Michael Daves, Jodi Daves, Scott Daves, Brandon Bernhardt, and Ryan Bernhardt; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Hunter, & Reid; sister, Marian Daves of Lena, IL; and brother Lyle (Mary) of Freeport, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Sig; and two brothers, George and Marvin. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton; Rev. Susan Davenport presiding. Interment will take place at the Woodbine Cemetery.
